The Solengo Kerfluffle

And can you imagine fifty people a day? I said FIFTY people a day.....walkin' in singin' a bar of "Alice's Restaurant" and walkin' out? Friends, they may think it's a MOVEMENT, and that's what it is.

The Gary Weiss Blog reported yesterday that the NYC law firm of Kobre & Kim, LLC has filed suit against DealBreaker.com, a self described Wall Street Tabloid,  for the high crime and misdemeanor of publishing a widely distributed PDF document touting the new Canadian hedge fund Solengo. (Hear Ye! Hear Ye!  The Junk Lawsuit is Here!)

Greg Newton, author and publisher of NakedShorts.com, weighed in with commentary on the absurdity  of the suit, and  provides a link to the entire filing.

When we attempted to view links to the offending PDF, however, the document was nowhere to be found on the Web. Solengo and counsel have seemingly been very busy sending out nastygrams threatening host sites with dire consequences for  publishing their allegedly confidential corporate materials.

Thanks to web sources, we have received a copy of the brochure PDF, which is published here for non-commercial purposes and in the interest  of educating the investing public about the thuggish us of the US legal system to attempt to supress criticism, or even discussion of critical issues in our capital markets.

Corporate executives, financial managers, and elected officials are increasingly acting like Barons in the Middle Ages, exercising their droit de seigneur against the public at large, and claiming lese majeste when criticized.

This being the weekend, the legal eagles at Kobre and Kim may not be sufficiently alert to bully this host into removing the brochure links until Monday, by which time we will have moved our new  market commentary blog to a venue that does not allow  wing-tipped Suits and those hiring them to trample on open public discourse. Since anybody can freely download and distribute (and mirror) the offending material,  the cliched toothpaste may well be out of the tube by them.
